SIRIUS and Voyager Join Forces

Remember all of those predictions during the 1950s of what life in the twenty-first century would be like? At the time they may have been amusing and seemed even somewhat dream-like; however, today we may not be that far off from some of the predictions, especially when it comes to driving a fully connected car.

If you are a technology junkie you will most certainly want to take note of the fact that SIRIUS music will soon be integrated into the Voyager unit. If you have felt as though something was missing from your Voyager unit, this agreement could certainly tie those loose ends together and ensure that you are able to enjoy the best of everything in your Voyager unit.

For those of you not familiar with the Voyager infotainment unit, it provides both downloaded as well as live wireless mobile Internet protocol TV, also known as IPTV. Audio programming is also provided for rear-seat passengers. A wide array of functions and features are integrated into the system including a Wi-Fi hotspot that gives you the opportunity for online access right within the car. Other features include movies, DVD, Xbox, computer games and TV as well as much more.

In addition, a deal was struck in December with Apple that will allow iTunes to also be included on the Voyager unit. WinXP software runs the system, which flips down for complete rear passenger entertainment. In most vehicles the system is installed in place of the dome light. Several high-resolution screen sizes are available in the Voyager system including a 7", 10" and 12" flip down monitor choices.

If you are thinking of the bulky satellite receiving systems that were once mounted on the top of vehicles, think again. The Voyager antenna is not only smaller than even many radio car antennas but it is also removable. This means you can enjoy all of the benefits of being connected without worrying about bulky equipment detracting from the look and design of your vehicle.

Recently, it was announced that SIRIUS and USTelematics have also reached a deal that will allow SIRIUS satellite programming to become available through the Voyager as well. Through this agreement, passengers will be able to receive all of the benefits of Sirius programming including SIRIUS Backseat TV (TM); the first live inside vehicle rear entertainment option to feature as many as three television programming options geared specifically for children; Disney Channel, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network.

This announcement is sure to be welcome news for consumers who enjoy satellite programming and find that the Voyager system provides a way to keep everyone connected and entertained on both short trips as well as long road trips.

SIRIUS programming offers an extensive array of entertainment options that are continually expanding as the number of on-air talents continue to grow. The combination of SIRIIUS programming with the Voyager infotainment unit will certainly provide consumers with more entertainment and news options than ever before.
